How To Test Drive a Used Car

The Malloy Clearance Center is ready to make the process of buying a used car, truck, or SUV easier than ever before. We have an experienced sales staff and a caring financing team that are prepared to address any questions you might have before it comes time to buy. We understand that there are a ton of questions that you can ask when taking your test drive, and we are ready to make sure we answer each one of them. Once you have the answer that you need, you can be confident in your purchase.

Your local used car dealer has named some important points that you should keep in mind before you purchase your used car, truck, or SUV. When you test drive a used car, you'll be able to get a feel for the model's condition before you commit to making that purchase. When it comes time to take your test drive, you should ensure that you're paying undivided attention to how the car is driving and whether it fits what you need. Be sure to address each of these questions before you sign your contract so you can have total peace of mind when you drive off of the sales lot.

Is the cabin easy to access? Can you get in and out without hitting your head?

Do you have enough room (legroom, headroom, etc.) to stay comfortable? Make sure that you check out the backseat as well.

Are you comfortable in the driver's seat? Is the seating too high or too low for your liking?

Are you able to tilt or maneuver the wheel to better fit in the vehicle?

Can you adjust the driver's seat easily? Is it comfortable on your back? Is there enough lumbar support for you? Make sure you check out the other seats too!

Is there currently a "check engine" light that is on? If there is, be sure to address the issue before you buy.

Do you have good visibility when you're in the driver's seat? Take a look at the rearview and side mirrors. Check for any potential blind spots.

Smell around the vehicle. While this may sound crazy, you should make sure that you're not smelling any gas, burning oil, or anything out of the ordinary.

Analyze the tires. Are they old? Do they have plenty of tread left on them?

Are the brakes stopping the car how they should? Are they squeaking?

Take a look underneath the hood. You don't have to have an extensive automotive knowledge to know when something isn't right. If you notice leaks, steam, or leaking oil, then you should make sure these issues are fixed before you buy.

Is the air conditioning blowing out cold air? Do the brake lights, turn signals, and headlights all work how they should? Make sure that you test them out to make sure.

Once you have all of these concerns addressed, you should feel great about your purchase. The staff at your local used car dealer wants to be confident in your purchase before you leave us. Come test drive the used car, truck, or SUV that you want today.
